marc a. drexler Wed Jan 8 16:35:35 PST 2014 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TSFS meeting 5 January 2014 Present in person: Joanne Hogan Sam Hogan Marc Drexler Greg Swiger Ian Delaney Present by remote computer connection: Betsy Marks Eric Fleischer Electra Hammond Josh Kronengold Michael Houghton Proxies held by Marc Drexler: Charles Butler Proxies held by Eric Fleischer: Nancy Janda Budget -- the budget which was sent out to everyone prior to the meeting (chessiecon projected budget.xls) was looked at commented on, along with the advertising plans We approved the idea of doing a costumed ball/social instead of a masquerade. We have paid the $1,000 deposit to the hotel, now doing business as Baltimore North Plaza Hotel, and signed the contract for next year. Larisa VanWinkle resigned as Art Show director and from TSFS (message sent to the list). She pointed out some problems with group dynamics we should be careful of, which were discussed. Nancy Janda resigned as Workshop coordinator, but will continue to be involved in TSFS (message sent to the list). Treasurer's report: ~$23,000 remaining in bank accounts after paying out for hotel and some of the marketing expenses. We should not suffer any cash flow problems for Chessiecon 2014. Elections -- the slate of candidates for the TSFS offices up for election was approved by acclimation: Trustee Joanna Dionne (continuing) President Joanne Hogan Vice-President Elektra Hammond Treasurer Sam Hogan (continuing) Recording Secretary Marc Drexler Art Show -- We need to find a new head for this department in the wake of Larisa's resignation. Dealer's Room -- Discussed Leo's retirement in the face of the hotel disallowing his working directly with them. Possible replacements are Dan Barnett and Sonya Gross. Artist Guest of Honor -- we still need one. People should be making suggestions. Workshops will be rolled into programming, and may have an individual or individuals coordinating them on an ad hoc basis (dealing with registrations and supplies and such). The video room should run itself fairly well, but Ian would like some volunteers pre-con or at least Friday of the convention who can staff it with a very minimal amount of training at certain scheduled times. Did not set a date for the next meeting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
