Eric Fleischer, Jo Hogan, Joshua Kronengold, Margaret Hogan, Greg Swiger, Dawn Stone, Michael Houghton, Charles Butler 1301 meeting opens. Thank you to Dawn for marketing effort that Jo doesn’t have to do now. Gaithersburg book fair, 21 May. Some authors stopping by to do signings. Could use some more volunteers. Greg said he could. Others possible. 0700 til evening-ish. Need to get fan table stuff there that needs to go to Balticon. Dawn has party room, fan table at Balticon. Volunteers needed. Greg will be helping at Balticon. Maybe Rick. Greg has been updating the website. Program participants keep rolling in daily now. Charles went to presentation on AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) who would be interested in presenting at Chessiecon on the intersection between religion, science, and science fiction/fantasy. Give names to Jo! We need more programming ideas. A lot more. Jo calls for some brainstorming sessions. Ideas for large events in lobby in particular; variations on last year just fine. Time travelers social a repeat; probably the workshop fair and a couple or three dances and concerts. And something with gaming. There was a call for more game shows. Maybe not in the lobby, tho. s00j doing circus arts? Big Kinect game in the lobby? Turkey Awards at 2330, then warm-up and Hallelujah chorus? Dawn has contact from Farpoint of reenactor troup doing show with audience participation. Potential there. Database has lots of ideas including leftobers. Committeen needs to look at them in detail and consider which ones need to be tossed. Programming meeting 24 April Two hours for s00j concert. Betsy gets own concert, and Sarah. Don’t wear Betsy out for big concert, though. Carl Cipra to likely run game shows…can we make Price Is Right into fandom related? Or do the Match Game for real this year? Concardia on the plate, too. Balticon will sell us the art show panels; after Balticon. We will need a bigger storage space. Look into a big group of game demos in the lobby on an evening. Dawn has worked a lot with Girl Scouts; working on having them at Chessicon. Also Maryland only state with fall cookie sales. Budget adjusted to make room for the extra $2000 the hotel wants. We’re OK for now. We may need to make bigger decisions in the future. Also looking at other hotel options has not been productive yet. We should still be looking. Talk to FarPoint about hotels as well. Compare deals, etc. Might help with negotiations. New management seems to be unclear on why they’ve been full at Thanksgiving for years. No Sam, so no treasurers report. Balticon bookmarks ordered, but not received yet. Were told we needed them by 11 April. Next meeting July 10, 1300, at Jo’s house. Adjourned 1402.
