Price Sheet (all prices expressed in US dollars)
There are three components in what you are charged: fixed costs, copying and postage.
FIXED COSTS include the cost of supplies such as envelopes, address labels, etc. Also, rather than me trying to cope with increasingly weird math, the fixed costs include postage for the first ounce of the packet. The fixed costs come to a total of $33.60 per month (NEW fixed rate, effective February 2004). This amount is split evenly among all the realms that contribute to the packet in any given month. (Some contributors may come from non-Squidpak realms, paying for copying and postage themselves; for fixed-cost purposes, each is considered to have a "sponsor" realm. If anyone has problems with this setup, please contact me.)
COPYING COSTS are self-explanatory; it's $14.11 for each double-sided
sheet. If your LoI or LoC has an odd number of pages, you pay for the
blank side. Example: for a 4-page LoI, that's 2 sheets of paper, copying
cost will be $28.22 -- but for a 5-page LoI, that is 3 sheets of paper and
it'll set you back $42.33 (a 6-page LoI costs the same as a 5-pager).
This rate is based on:
a copy cost of 18 cents per sheet
a 75 member mailing list
The rate will be pro-rated to the actual number of copies made (e.g. 64 in
July 2001, 68 in March 2002). The rate will also be pro-rated to the actual
copying cost per sheet: most of the time I am able to swing a better deal
than 18 cents per, and when that is the case I'll be able to charge less for
that month's copying costs. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee this.
POSTAGE for each ounce of paper, including the marginal fractional ounce, will cost $20.32. This was the rate as of January 2004, based on the US postal rates in effect then, for 67 USA addresses plus 8 non-USA addresses (3 Canada, 2 Europe, 1 South Africa, 2 Australia). The postage rate will be pro-rated as the number of each type of address changes.
There are 6 sheets of paper to an ounce, so every group of 1-6 sheets will cost $20.32, 7-12 sheets will cost 40.64, and so on. This is a maximum figure, as sometimes fractional ounces from different people will combine to be under 1 ounce; what I actually do is take the total number of ounces (rounded UP), multiply by 20.32, divide by the number of sheets in the package, and multiply that by the number of sheets you send, and charge you that amount.

Fixed costs: $33.60, divided evenly among each participating realm that month
Copying: $14.11 per double-sided sheet (divide # of pages by 2, round up)
Postage: $20.32 per full ounce, $20.32 maximum per fractional ounce
BILLING
You may choose to be billed on a monthly or quarterly basis. (Folks outside the US may also choose semiannual billing.) Bills are sent out anywhere from the 25th of the packet month to the 25th of the month following, but I usually aim for the beginning of the month.
E-mail is by far the preferred method of sending invoices. Snailmail invoicing is available for an additional fee. In any case I will need to know where to direct the invoice. If the Principal Herald is not the billing address, the P.H. will be CC'd on the invoice.
